The Kiwi who makes wine with royalty in his shipping container hotel in Chile
You need courage and a functioning GPS to find Grant Phelps.  The Kiwi winemaker-cum-hotelier lives atop one of Valparaíso's 42 hills, requiring a white-knuckle drive up spiralling switchbacks, past brightly coloured houses plonked higgledy-piggledy on steep inclines.  Christchurch-born Phelps opened WineBox Valparaíso, his 21-room hotel, in 2018.

What Happens When You Treat Making Tequila Like Champagne

An industrious businessman from a prominent Mexican family, Juan Gallardo has served as both the CEO of a company that processes much of Mexico’s sugarcane and molasses, and as the director of a company that distributes all of the country’s Pepsi products.

Gallardo met some influential folks at French spirits group Moët Hennessy—among them Trent Fraser, former Vice President of champagne label Dom Perignon. As the friendship blossomed, a collaboration seemed inevitable, and a discreet inquiry was made:

How might Moët Hennessy, overseer of prestigious brands like Dom and Krug and Veuve Clicquot, break into the tequila industry? And would Gallardo help?....

LATIN AMERICAN ECONOMIC ANALYSIS

Picture
September 12, 2019

The region’s growth prospects were chopped for a fifth consecutive month in September, chiefly on deteriorating expectations for Argentina, Chile, Mexico and Peru. The renowned photographer August Sanders said, "In photography, there are no shadows that cannot be illuminated."

Argentine-German photographer Gerardo Korn's latest series of black and white photography titled 'Behind the Scenes - Buenos Aires, A Unique Tribute' corroborates Sanders' saying in many ways. Almost all his pictures have been shot during late hours of the night and early hours of the morning, sans any activity or human presence, when the architecture of the city stands tall in all its glory....
