Embraer Delivers Its First KC-390 Jet to the Brazilian Air Force
There have been plenty of setbacks over the past several years, (including being passed-over in favour of the C-130J-30 Super Hercules by the New Zealand Defence Force) as Embraer has completed the development of its KC-390 multirole military jet and prepared to begin deliveries.

The Brazilian aerospace company finally reached a big milestone last week, as it completed the first KC-390 delivery.....

NZ landing station an 'obvious choice' for Chile-to-China internet cable

Chile could put the New Zealand government on the spot by asking it to allow a proposed US$500 million (NZ$794m) internet cable linking Chile and China to come ashore in Auckland, industry sources believe.  A spokesman for Communications Minister Kris Faafoi said the Government was aware of the cable plan but "no formal approach" had been made to New Zealand for a landing station so far.

China's state-run press agency Xinhua has reported that the cable would begin in the Chilean city of Valparaiso "passing New Zealand, Australia and French Polynesia" on its way to Shanghai.....

LATIN AMERICAN ECONOMIC ANALYSIS

Picture
September 12, 2019

The region’s growth prospects were chopped for a fifth consecutive month in September, chiefly on deteriorating expectations for Argentina, Chile, Mexico and Peru. Headwinds from global trade tensions, slowing activity in China, downbeat confidence, subdued commodities prices and Argentina’s crisis will limit momentum this year.
LATAM Monetary & Financial Sector News.

Preliminary data revealed regional inflation came in at 7.7% in August, slightly above July’s revised 7.6%. Weak economic dynamics has helped keep inflation in check in several economies, with the stark exceptions of Argentina and Venezuela. Regional inflation is seen ending the year around current levels.....

Mexico Fights Corruption

Mexico’s new government probes Pemex, Odebrecht.  In May 2019, delivering on his central campaign promise to target corruption in Mexico, Mexico President Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s administration launched an investigation into Emilio Lozoya Austin, former CEO of Mexican state-owned oil and gas company Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex) for alleged fraud, money laundering, and bribery.

The allegations revolve around Pemex’s 2014 purchase of a rundown and abandoned fertilizer plant for $475 million US from Altos Hornos de México (AHMSA), one of Mexico’s largest multinational companies. Mexican prosecutors are alleging that the plant’s price was severely inflated, and that bribery played a role in securing the transaction.

The Best Hotels In Mexico City For Business Travelers, 2019

Mexico City is the seat of the incumbent government, which means you will see many sophisticated official buildings all over. Its center called Centro Historico de la Cuidad is a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site and is marked by a slew of colonial buildings dating as far as the 16th century. Then, there are other places such as the Templo Mayor housing many Aztec relics, the Constitution Plaza, and volcanic mountains such as Iztaccihuati.

The renowned photographer August Sanders said, "In photography, there are no shadows that cannot be illuminated."

Argentine-German photographer Gerardo Korn's latest series of black and white photography titled 'Behind the Scenes - Buenos Aires, A Unique Tribute' corroborates Sanders' saying in many ways. In the series, Korn manages to capture the metropolis of Buenos Aires in its absolute beauty and in complete stillness.

Almost all his pictures have been shot during late hours of the night and early hours of the morning, sans any activity or human presence, when the architecture of the city stands tall in all its glory....
