Trade negotiators for the European Union and the South American Mercosur trading block have reached agreement on a new free-trade deal.  It paves the way for a significant increase import of cheaper beef and other goods from South America.  The Mercosur trade deal has been almost 20 years in the making and involves Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay....

A Brazilian Business and Academic Delegation is scheduled to visit New Zealand in October 2019 for a round of visits and meetings with local businesses, research centres and government organizations.

Led by entrepreneurs Mr Roberto Salazar and Prof. Rogério Bohn, the delegation consists of Brazilian businessmen with varied backgrounds ranging from retail to construction and cooperative credit, among others.

Latin America is seen growing weakly this year

​June 12, 2019 - The region is seen growing weakly this year and prospects were cut for a third month running in June. Trade tensions and a slowing global economy are seen stunting export growth broadly. On top of this, Argentina is in the midst of a tough economic adjustment; fiscal and political challenges weigh on Brazil’s outlook; and uncertainty is high in Mexico owing to tension with the U.S....

Competitiveness: Brazil, Mexico Improve

Brazil, Mexico & Colombia improved while Argentina, Chile and Peru worsened their competitiveness the past year, according to the latest competitiveness ranking from Swiss-based business school IMD.  Among 63 economies worldwide, Brazil now ranks in 59th place, up one spot from last year, while Mexico also moved up one spot to 50th place. Colombia did even better, moving up six spots to 52ndplace. Only two other countries (Indonesia and Saudi Arabia) improved more....
