Venezuela's Episode of Hyperinflation Reaches New "Highs" - Prices Double Every 17.5 Days
At present, Venezuela is suffering from hyperinflation. It holds down the top spot on my list, with an annual inflation rate of 16,428%. Note that my measurement of the implied inflation rate is much higher than the widely reported International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) end-of-year forecast of 12,870% (13,000% rounded). I measure; the IMF foolishly forecasts.

The people who will one day rebuild Venezuela
No one knows when or how the dictatorship of Venezuela’s Nicolás Maduro will fall. But when it does, the country, especially in its first 180 days, will need to draw on a talented and diverse group of minds to fix the economy, the oil sector and more. Here are ten people who could lead the way.

Bumpy recovery continues in Q1; Colombia and Paraguay elections expected to yield market-friendly outcomes

18 April 2018 : The Latin American economy’s recovery is expected to have remained on course in the last quarter of 2017 and first months of 2018 as the region puts a tough 2015–2016 firmly in the rearview mirror. A comprehensive estimate revealed that GDP grew 2.0% annually in Q4, which marked the fastest rate of growth since Q1 2014. Moreover, FocusEconomics estimates that GDP expanded 1.9% in the first quarter of 2018, broadly keeping pace. Higher commodities prices, solid global growth and accommodative financial conditions are expected to have supported growth in the region in Q1.
